Weekend for my Dad!!

The weekend of the 17th and 18th, Bob and I flew up to Washington to be with my family for my dad's retirement dinner with past/current staff. My mom made the arrangements so it was a total surprise for him that all us kids were there. Thanks to Bob's parents we were able to go without the kids. It was so much fun to go just the two of us. We had so many simple pleasures like being able to check-in online the day before to get our boarding pass, going through security at the airport, not having to find enough seats together to accomodate us, not having to have snacks, diapers, etc. in a huge carry-on, not having to have a top and straw put on my complimentary drink, etc... And that was just getting there!!! =) We got in Friday and surprised my dad at the house. He was completely surprised and couldn't believe that we were all there. My brother picked us all up (Bob and I and 2 sisters coming from Utah with their hubbies) and after some visiting and playing their Wii (isn't it awesome my parents have a Wii), we went to the dinner for my dad. It was really nice to see my dad's former and current employees. He's been practicing for a lot of years. After the entree my mom read some letters of memories and thoughts from employees that couldn't make it. It was really special to be there and see the positive influence he has had on so many people. Us kids were employees, too. We started out being the janitors and then when we were in high school we moved up to the reception area doing some bookkeeping. My dad was such a great employer. Everyone respected him and he really respected them. I always remembered him saying what a privilege it was to work WITH everyone in the office, rather than referring to them working for him.
There were some heartfelt moments with tears, but there were a lot of funny stories that people told.
Just trying stuff out.
This was for dipping our bread in and it was delicioso!!
This is Debbie, my dad's head receptionist. She was his receptionist for almost the whole time he was in practice -- over 20 years!!

Swimming Again!

A few weeks ago when it was hot we got to go to the pool a few times. I was glad to see Davis still loves the water!
Davis is underwater all the time. He loves it!
Nice action shot! I love this new camera!!! I already wish I had a bigger lense to get closer.

Mother's Day

So, the kids were sick on Mother's Day. Davis was sick the day before, so I knew I was staying home with him, but then Gabbie woke up that morning with a fever, so it was just me and the kids while Bob went to church. At least they slept a lot during the day. So, I was mothering on Mother's Day - how fitting. =)

Cinco de Mayo

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo at our friends' the Browning's. They put on a great party with some yummy food!! As we came in the senors got sombreros, senoras got flowers, and the bambinos got mustaches. =) Davis didn't want his on his lip, so we just settled for the shirt.

Thanks for the fiesta!!!!

Way Behind!!

So, I know I'm WAY behind, but... I was going to give an excuse, but there just isn't one good enough. =) And, I don't think I'm going to make myself feel guilty about not blogging regularly. There are already enough things to stress about. Here's Bob and Davis at their first Father-and-Son Outing. Davis was really excited about being in the tent. He was so excited that the tent was the only place he wanted to be. Bob tried to get him to go to the campfire that night, but Davis wouldn't hear it.
The next morning they had breakfast and the boys played on some rocks.

Reading at 3!

Well, actually, we have read it over and over so many times that he has memorized Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? In the middle of reading he decided he didn't want to do it anymore, but I'm glad I got what I did. He's so smart and so cute.

Movie Star Sighting

While were over at the Nielsen's we noticed a familiar face. Over in the barn was Red from Cars minding his own business and not drawing too much attention to himself. He seems like he hasn't let the success of the movie go to his head.

In Horse Heaven!

Thanks to our friends in our new ward, Davis was able to ride a horse a few weeks ago. He was in heaven, to say the least. We were definitely put in the right ward for Davis. =) Thanks Nielsen's!!! Gabbie wasn't so sure about them at first, but she enjoyed herself, too.

More than anything it was just really fun to be outside with lots of space to run around and enjoy!
